Andre Drummond was born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York on August 10th, 1993. He was an athletic child and grew up playing basketball from a very young age. His skills started to gain a lot of attention when he entered into his high school career.
Andre played basketball at Capital Preparatory Magnet High School in Hartford, Connecticut. He had an immediate impact on the school team his freshman year by averaging 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks per game! Even though his freshman year was a success, Andre Drummond continued to improve his game. His sophomore year he increased his numbers to 20 points, 16 rebounds, 7 blocks and 4 steals per game. After his sophomore year, Andre transferred from Capital Prep to St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut.
Andre continued to have a massive success his final two years at St. Thomas More and he became the most dominating center in high school at the time and was rated as the number one player in the college draft class of 2012.
Deciding exactly where he wanted to attend college was a bit of a struggle for Andre. However, after a lot of deliberation he finally decided to attend the University of Connecticut. Andre Drummond's college career was a short one, he played one year and then entered the NBA draft. Although he played well, his college stats were not that incredible.
